Many genocides hace occurred and continue to occur around the world, we just don't tend to hear about many.
THE kurdish genocide
In parts pf the Middle East, The Kurds are a very old Iranian ethnicity. During the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, the government decided to commit to "The Anfal Campaign" (Campaign against the Kurds). Ali Hassan al-Majid led the campaign and soon got the nickname of 'Chemical Ali' because of his use of gasses. More than 180,000 Kurds were killed, and thousands not included. Finally in 1988, the American Military captured Chemical Ali and arrested him for War Crimes.
THE pygmy genocide
The Pygmy Tribe consists of adult males that are less than 59 inches tall, in Central Africa. The pygmies suffered terribly "during Congolese civil wars fought in the region". The Movement for Liberation for the Congo have been cannibalizing the Pygmies, treating them like wild animals. Pygmies have been treated this way for quite some time, and the amount of pygmies remaining is decreasing rapidly as the slaughter toward pygmies continues.
Aboriginals
Aborigine is the oldest, most ancient race in the world. From 1909-1970s, the Australian government "instituted a policy of removing Aboriginal children from their parents". Some say this was done to protect the children from their parents ways of encouraging desegregation of racial types. At first there was debate whether this was a genocide, but in 2008 the Australian government decided to apologize formally about the 'stolen generation'.
